A truly
breathtaking satinwood sunburst dining table in
highly figured Claro walnut with a set of twelve
Queen Anne chairs in matching walnut. The table is
fourteen and a half feet clear span supported on a
walnut frame of four legs and a five inch
underframe. Shaped frieze and block cut ends are
joined with mortise and tenon joints to the finely
proportioned hand carved legs. The solid satinwood
top has a sunburst design with a central motif of
shaded marquetry in boxwood, cherry, bubinga and
ebony. The matching chairs are constructed of
highly figured Claro walnut in the traditional
manner of Queen Anne with mortise and tenon joints
throughout and hand carved in a bold style with the
exquisite proportions typical of the period. |
