This stunning
Queen Anne burr walnut bureau cabinet is comprised
of over one thousand sections of hand cut Scottish
walnut laid in the traditional manner on Caledonian
Pine and Oak, using powderless glue as did 18th
century cabinet makers. These exceptional pieces of
furniture have always been the most challenging for
cabinet makers. The exquisite blend of beauty and
practicality transcends 300 years of furniture
making. Highly figured walnut is laid in a
cross-grain pattern of alternating light and dark
shades. Flowing shapes and moldings catch the light
and demand to be caressed, while dancing patterns
of book-matched and quartered burr walnut panels
show changing images every time you look. The
obvious care and attention to detail that went into
this piece portray the heart and soul of the
cabinet maker, a lover of wood. Taking
approximately a year to create, this piece will
delight the true connoisseur. |
